Over the last 20 years or so, the Roux family has hosted thousands of elementary students during the annual Day on the Farm at their Newton, Kansas, farm. Barbara Roux is a long-time member of Kansas Agri-Women and many other volunteers help with the event.
This year, nearly 400 students from Walton Rural Life School and another elementary school visited the farm. FFA members from Newton High School educated the students on ag topics as they showed off some of their own projects, such as beef, poultry, rabbits and more.
The students also enjoyed a trailer ride out to see the fields, where they learned about crop production. And, they enjoyed a country meal in the machine shed.
Thanks to Barbara, the FFA students and the many volunteers who are advocating for agriculture through education!
